The first time I made banana dog treats was a memorable experience. I was doing the washing up and I smelled something in my kitchen. It took me a while to figure out where it was coming from, but when I discovered that one of my bananas had just turned rotten and I didn’t want it to spoil the others, so the solution was clear – I would use all three remaining overripe bananas to make homemade treats for my dog!
I was very excited to try out this new recipe and see how my French Bulldog, Dolly, would react.
I followed the instructions carefully and put the shapes in the oven. It took me a little while to cut them out, but it was worth it!
After a few minutes, I could already smell the delicious banana aroma wafting through the house. After baking for 25 minutes, I flipped them over and waited for another 20 minutes. I wasn’t surprised when Dolly started to beg for the treats before I even finished making them. Once they were done, I let them cool completely before giving them to my dog.
Dolly absolutely loved the banana biscuits and gobbled them up quickly. She seemed to really enjoy them and I was happy that I could make her a healthy snack that she loved. This was a fun experience and I’m looking forward to making more banana biscuits for my dog in the future!

How to make 2 ingredient banana biscuits for your dog
First thing to do, is preheat your oven to 160 degrees C.
Then, using a potato masher or a fork, mash the bananas.
Then, using a spoon, incorporate the oats, cinnamon, and coconut oil. Stir until it starts to come away from the edge of the bowl and is completely combined.
Cover the bowl with a tea towel, and set aside for 10 minutes to let the oats soak up the banana and coconut oil and expand.
Now you can get your hands in and knead the dough for a couple of minutes. Then on a lightly floured surface, or on greaseproof paper, roll the dough out until it is about 1/4 inch thick.
I used these cute little cutters (available on Amazon) to make the biscuit shapes. If you want to make less treats and more like bigger biscuits then just use a bigger or your favorite cookie cutter.
To bake them I used my silicon baking sheet, which I love ( want one? this is my one) to spread them all out and popped them in the oven at 160 degrees C for about 25 minutes. I gave them a shake and them put them back in for another 20 mins.
Once golden brown I put them on the wire rack to cool before letting Dolly test one.
They will keep in an airtight container for up to a month, but I can assure you that they probably won’t last that long as they are too delicious. Yes, you can eat them too, I tried some!
This recipe is meant to be a special treat for your dog and should not take the place of their regular food. Treats should not account for more than 10% of your dog’s daily calories. To adjust the treat quantity and size, simply change the amounts in the recipe in proportion to suit your size of your dog. 2 Ingredient Banana Biscuit TreatsYum
- 3 Banana Overripe bananas work best
- 4 cups Oats Rolled breakfast oats work great or you can use oat flour
- 1 tbsp Coconut oil Optional but recommended
- 3 tsp Cinammon Optional
- 1 tbsp Flax or Chia Seed Optional
- Preheat your oven to 160 degrees C ( 320 degrees F)
- Peel and mash the bananas in your mixing bowl using a fork or potato masher3 Banana
- Using a wooden spoon mix in the oats, coconut oil, cinnamon and seeds ( if using)4 cups Oats1 tbsp Coconut oil3 tsp Cinammon1 tbsp Flax or Chia Seed
- Combine all the ingredients into a dough in the centre of your bowl.
- Cover the bowl loosely with a teatowel and leave for 5-10 minutes for the oats to expand.
- Roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thick on a lightly floured surface ( or parchment paper)
- Cut out your shapes with your favourite cookie cutter and arrange on a baking tray.
- Put the tray in the middle of the oven and bake for 25 minutes.
- Turn the cookies over and bake for another 20 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack.
- Keep in an airtight container ( like this cute cookie jar) for up to a month.
